Philip Hopkins

1806-1844

Hopkins, a younger brother of Mr. Johns Hopkins, was born in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. He later joined the firm of Hopkins and Brothers Wholesalers where he served as a salesman. In 1844 at the age of thirty-six, he contracted yellow fever during an outbreak in Baltimore and died.  His death and the earlier deaths of Hopkins’ other two brothers caused the dissolution of the firm which had begun in 1819.
